This series of workshops has been designed in consultation with industry. The series is designed to allow participants to gain an understanding of how to lead others in the workplace.

Workshop topics have been selected based on identified development needs for new and emerging supervisors, team leaders and those in a position that oversees others. Participants will have the opportunity to access individual support to assist implementation of workshop content as part of the series.

Workshop 1 : Communicate with INFLUENCE

COURSE CONTENT

This workshop focuses on key aspects of effective and professional communication. Participants will develop a strong understanding of how effective communication can potentially avoid conflict and diffuse conflict situations. 

The workshop will also cover:

  • Communication tips and techniques for leaders
  • Understanding how others perceive you
  • Dealing with difficult situations, people, and conflict resolution strategies
  • Strategies to resolve communication differences and problems
  • Development a personal action plan

COURSE CONTENT

Everyone has a role to play in the creation and maintenance of a positive work environment free of negative workplace behaviours, especially the leader!

This workshop covers not only relevant legal framework, but the importance of understanding acceptable standards, the role of perception, and what you can do to support an inclusive and respectful workplace where people feel valued. The aim is to create a lasting behaviour change by increasing staff awareness, understanding, capability and confidence in building and maintaining respectful workplaces. 

This workshop will cover:

  • Requirements for effective teamwork
  • Respect in all its forms
  • Impact of disrespect
  • Addressing disrespectful behaviour
  • Leading by example

  • Questioning techniques to identify opportunities to build resilience

  • The 80:20 principle, the 5 D's and A-B-C priority shorthand
